Mosaic Tiles

(2025-2026)

Authentic retro glass mosaic tiles recycled into elegant jewelry.

One of my favorite buildings in Bratislava has always captivated me with its cascading façade and the mosaic that once covered it. When the time came for its renovation, the mosaic was removed.

On the ground, I discovered small fragments of this surface. Pieces of glass and stone, in warm beige and brown tones, once part of a greater composition, were lying scattered and in dirt. I collected them, cleaned them, and placed them back into the fire.

In the kiln, they softened and transformed, taking on new shapes. What was once part of the architectural skin of the building found a new voice as jewelry. Each piece holds a memory of place, carrying within it both history and renewal.

These jewels are not only adornments but also small keepsakes of Bratislava, allowing its spirit to be carried close, reshaped into something intimate and lasting.

Each jewel carries within it a fragment of the city, a trace of architecture, a memory reborn. To wear one is to carry a piece of Bratislava close to you, transformed.

Finding the material

While walking through Bratislava, I came across one of my beloved buildings wrapped in scaffolding. Its cascading façade had always felt beautiful, but what drew me in most was the mosaic that once shimmered across its surface.

Collecting

On the ground, in the dust and rubble, I found the remains, small fragments of glass, once part of a living skin of the building, now forgotten as debris. Their muted beige and warm brown tones, which once sang together in harmony, lay silent and broken in dirt.

Recycling

I gathered them. I cleaned them of mortar and returned them to the fire. In the kiln, they melted and reshaped, taking on new forms. From what was discarded, I created something new.
